We did all the packing the night before so we could get on the road nice and early in the morning. We packed until we could not cram one more single item in, or on, our car! We did manage to leave just enough space in the back seat for the baby... barely!
We decided to break our trip into 3 days, to try to make it easier on our little not-so-great traveler in the back seat. We went from St. Johns to Oklahoma City on day 1, then to St. Louis on day 2, and finally to Chicago on day 3.
The whole trip actually felt like it went pretty fast, and the kiddo in the back seat did surprisingly well! We made a few pit stops along the way, to see fun things like The Big Texan- home of the 72 oz steak, and Joplin Missouri to see where the big tornado went through a couple years ago.
I really wished we had time to try and eat that 72 oz steak!
This is a spot where a school used to be in Joplin, only the parking lot remains now. The school was rebuilt in a different location.
A wall we found in the middle of town. A lot of the town has been rebuilt, but there are still reminders of the tornado as you drive through. It was neat to see how they've bounced back after such a devastating disaster.
Pit stop were this boy's favorite parts of the trip!!
We made it to Chicago safe and sound on January 22, and were welcomed by a light, steady snow fall. It's so cold here! This is going to be a definite adjustment for these little desert rats, but we're excited to finally be here!!
