May 16, 2011...
It was getting to be about 8:30 at night, and I hadn't heard from Adam yet that evening, which was odd. I finally called him to see where he was, but only got his voicemail. I was surprised when I got a text from him a couple minutes later that said he had been cleaning his sister's yard for her since right after work and he'd call me when he was done. Who does yard work, on a Monday, in the dark? Adam would, so I didn't question it. He finally called me about 9:30 pm and I went to meet him at his house, but didn't stay long because he was pretty tired from working so hard and said he was headed to bed early. Before I left he asked me if I'd be willing to help him babysit his niece the next night while his sisters went out.

I didn't have to work that day, so I was spending the day running errands. Around lunch time I got a call from Adam. He was headed back to work from lunch, and blew a tire and needed to be rescued. I met him and took him to get a tire iron, then sat on the curb and watched him change his tire, in his work clothes, in the heat... poor guy!
He picked me up about 8:30 that night to go babysit his niece. When we got there Madilyn was already sleeping. I thought it was a little odd that his sisters were going out to dinner so late, but didn't think too much about it. They left, and I sat down to pick out a movie to watch. Adam walked over to the sliding door that led to the back yard and said, "Hey, do you want to see my all my hard work I was doing last night?" He opened the blinds and I saw the back yard all lit up, and then I realized what was going on! He led me out the door to this...
He had music playing in the background, got down on his knee, made me cry with all the nice romantic stuff he had to say, and then whipped out the ring and popped the question!
Before he put the ring on my finger, he explained that it wasn't just an ordinary CTR ring, as it had a special message engraved inside...
It hard to read, but it says "Choose the Ralph." He did such a good job! He worked for hours the night before to set up the back yard, kicked me out early that night with the excuse that he was tired and going to be early then stayed up till 1 am creating a play list of songs to play in the background. He blew his tire while on the phone making arrangements to have the ring engraved and picked up, and then kicked his sisters out of their house for a little bit, and managed to pull off the perfect surprise!
It's crazy to think it's been a whole year since this night, but so fun to remember how it all went down! And for the record, Ralph, I'm so glad everyday that I chose you. Thank YOU for choosing ME! :)
