For 10 months we've LOVED where we live on Nevis. Our apartment is at the top of a hill pretty much all by itself. We have one house across the street from us, but there hasn't been anybody living in it for months now. We can't hear anyone, or anything, ever! Most days it's just us and the monkeys up here. We have a great view of only our jungle and the mountain behind us, and only the jungle and the ocean in front of us!
Yesterday morning a man on a backhoe showed up and we wondered what he was up to.
For the next several hours we watched him slowly tear out our back yard jungle! It was seriously one of the saddest thing I've ever watched. I felt like my privacy was being violated! He did his dirty deed and left. And when he was all done, our awesome view in the back looked like this...
I told you it was sad! It turns out there was the makings of a foundation of a house under all that jungle. Who knows how long ago it was started, but I guess someone is ready to finally restart the project maybe. We're hoping that the project moves at regular Nevis speed, which would allow us to enjoy our piece and quiet up here until next April and be done and gone before they actually got started. We can hope, right? :)
Oh well. Our awesome back yard is a little bit ruined, and may have big changes in store. But at least no one can ruin our view from the front... for now.
