And then it Rained...

And rained, and rained, and rained some more! After I bragged about our awesome weather from Tropical Storm Maria on Saturday, it started raining sometime during the night Saturday, and pretty much hasn't stopped! The skies have been dark and grey and most of the time we haven't been able to see the ocean, or even the mountain behind us because of how low and dark the clouds are.

Sunday we watched it rain on and off all day. I say off and on because it pours like crazy, coming down in sheets, for five or ten minutes and then lets up and just drizzles for a few minutes, and then get wound up and lets loose again! We meet at a couple students' house about 50 yards down the road from us for church. So we made a mad dash to and from their house when it was time for church, trying to beat the down pours, and almost succeeded. :) Adam was so nice and tried to keep me dry with the umbrella. He was a little bit soaked by the time we got inside.

At church the other students told us stories of some of the crazy tropical storms they've seen during their time here on the island. Everything from wading in waist deep water, to one student's car that got washed out to the ocean when he tried to cross a bridge in a storm! (Apparently the car is still out there and you can snorkel out to it.) According to them, this is just a normal summer rainstorm we're experiencing now.

Tonight it's still raining. It started pouring hard just as we were finishing dinner. And after just a few minutes there was water everywhere! It was running out of the jungle into the backyard...

And out the front yard back into the jungle...

And we had quite the little river running down our road...

Whether this is just a little summer rainstorm or not, it's definitely more water than these two little Arizona desert rats have seen is quite a while!
