Maria Who?

Thursday afternoon at school they told the students that the campus would be closed all weekend because of the tropical storm that was supposed to come through this weekend. We got online and started tracking Maria. It looked like she was going to come right over the top of us, projected to blow through here Saturday afternoon. Our first Tropical Storm... kind of exciting!

Yesterday I made sure all the water bottles were filled, and went to town and bought a flashlight and extra batteries, and we made sure both laptops were charged so Adam could study even if the power went out. We were so prepared! I picked Adam up at the school Friday afternoon and they were boarding up the windows on all the buildings, and I thought "wow, these storms must get crazy!"

It rained off and on in the evening and most of last night. But we woke up this morning to blue skies! We waited all day for the weather to change and for Maria to make some sort of appearance. And tonight, we're proud to report that we survived our first tropical storm with probably the nicest weather we've had on the island yet! Maria apparently changed her coarse and didn't even get close to us. I'd be lying if I said we aren't a little disappointed. We were ready! Oh well, maybe next time.
